About Pronto Engine & Transmission Inc
Located at 833 Prairie Trail, Austin, TX 78758, Pronto Engine & Transmission Inc operates as an auto repair shop serving Austin in Texas. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
In Austin, shops are busiest on Monday mornings and before holiday weekends, so a mid-week appointment gets a car seen faster. Labor rates across Texas vary by neighborhood and by shop type, from small independents to dealership service bays, and mobile mechanics now cover many routine jobs in the driveway. Before authorizing a repair, ask for the estimate in writing, whether the shop warranties parts and labor (12 months / 12,000 miles is common, some offer more), and whether it can provide a loaner or a shuttle. Check the listing for hours, the makes the shop works on and its Google rating, then call ahead, since walk-in capacity is limited at smaller shops.
The business lists hours on 6 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 8 amβ6 pm. It is closed on Sunday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (512) 836-8397. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, prontos.net.
Its Google rating stands at 1.0 out of 5 from 19 reviews, which is below average for the category; consider the recent reviews carefully before visiting.
Austin is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. Traffic in Austin peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

SCAMMERS, to all please be careful when doing business with Pronto Engine & Transmission Inc. I agreed with them to repair two trailer brakes for $125 each, for a total of $250. However, after the work was completed, I was presented with an invoice for $1,568, which was far higher than the agreed amount. When I questioned the charges and refused to pay the unexpected amount, they were pressured me and told that my truck and trailer would be towed and that I would be charged an additional $800.Do not go to this shop they are scammers.

This is fake mechanic. After completing the work, they demand more money, which was not agreed upon. We agreed to replace trailer brakes for $125. He finished the job and drew an invoice for $1,500. When I told him we didn't agree, he started blackmailing me, saying toving should make trucks and a trailer and keep it till we will not pay him that 1.500$. Be careful, don't go to them, they are just scammers.

Drivers , OP and all trucking companies - BE AWARE. Never ever, under no circumstances do business with these people . The owner Thomas is the biggest scammer I''ve ever seen. They charged my company $7000 to replace dozer on 7th injector in Freightliner Cascadia. When we disputed these ridiculous charges they block the truck, hold me hostage. Then they called they own TOWING and tow the truck with me inside to their lot - where they refused to release truck until we pay $7000 in repairs and $1500 for towing. The Police didn't help here (civil matter) . After we paid them everything they released the truck but the transmission is broken due to the rush and inappropriate towing. Front bumper and deer-guard damaged and bended. They taking ZERO responsibility. Please be aware - if you call them and they working on your truck or on the way to fix you please cancel them , look for another company. But under no circumstances let them touch your equipment . I made that mistake and it cost us $15K in total repairs. ABSOLUTELY BEWARE and run or cancel if they doing anything for you.

This is the worst company I've ever dealt with. They charged over 4k to replace 2 rims and 3 tires. That's not the worse part....after they completed the job, they towed my truck to their shop when nothing was wrong with it. Obviously they just wanted to charge more for towing a perfectly working car. Oh, and they don't take credit card....IDIOTS!!
